These are conduction band edges from two separate Schrodinger Poisson self consistent solutions. These curves are constructed from potential solutions from Poisson and known conduction band offsets. Note the energy offsets in the AlAs layers show the location of the heterostructure quantum well.

The two solutions show a different potentials near the N+ layer of the modulation doped quantum well. These are the two solutions correspond to the J/V curve solutions shown in the previous slide. Note that for the solution in red the conduction band edge energy in the N+ layer is below than the energy at the contacts indicating the existence of quasi bound states.

The two solutions are accessible by starting from different initial potential guess near these final values. The simulation converges to the potential solution closest to the initial potential guess.
