Project Overview

The purpose of our project is to facilitate the data acquisition of the chemical sensor. The chemical sensor is a chemical-sensing device developed by a team of scientist including Dr. Neikirk, our supervisor. The sensor consists of a silicon wafer with polymer filled holes. The polymers react to the chemicals they come in contact with by changing color. Light emitting diodes are then used to illuminate the polymers and the resulting image is analyzed by software. Our project consists of developing a computer to hardware interface to control the LED's. This project will help automate the data acquisition process of the chemical sensor.
